Ed Breazeale, MD, CEO/Founder

Ed’s involvement with the home health industry spans the last decade. Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Ed attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, from which he graduated magna cum laude. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. After becoming an MD, Ed completed a general surgery internship and residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. Since 2007, he has been perfecting HealthStar’s proprietary GPS technology and patented verification features. Ed is also a practicing, board-certified plastic surgeon, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

“My day job as an aesthetic plastic surgeon has allowed me to pursue my second passion: mitigating fraud, waste, and abuse in the home and community-based care and home health fields. Through research and observation, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of these inequities on patients and the system at large. And in response, my team developed a world-class enterprise software solution to bring order to these segments of care. At HealthStar, we believe all Medicaid recipients deserve thorough, timely care. As a physician, this is most important.”

When Ed isn’t overseeing HealthStar’s strategic direction and partnerships, he enjoys working on his 33-acre farm and traveling with his wife, Susan, a physical therapist and HealthStar’s secretary. His son, Ben, plays professional baseball in the Baltimore Orioles organization. His daughter, Alex, is a first-year law student who is working toward a dual JD/IMBA degree at the University of South Carolina. You may reach Ed at ebreazeale@ .
