Ed Breazeale, MD, CEO/Founder
Ed’s involvement with the home health industry spans the last decade. Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Ed attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, from which he graduated magna cum laude. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. After becoming an MD, Ed completed a general surgery internship and residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. Since 2007, he has been perfecting HealthStar’s proprietary GPS technology and patented verification features. Ed is also a practicing, board-certified plastic surgeon, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
“My day job as an aesthetic plastic surgeon has allowed me to pursue my second passion: mitigating fraud, waste, and abuse in the home and community-based care and home health fields. Through research and observation, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of these inequities on patients and the system at large. And in response, my team developed a world-class enterprise software solution to bring order to these segments of care. At HealthStar, we believe all Medicaid recipients deserve thorough, timely care. As a physician, this is most important.”
When Ed isn’t overseeing HealthStar’s strategic direction and partnerships, he enjoys working on his 33-acre farm and traveling with his wife, Susan, a physical therapist and HealthStar’s secretary. His son, Ben, plays professional baseball in the Baltimore Orioles organization. Krista Pelensky, VP Operations
Krista grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, and has been working in healthcare operations for more than 20 years. In addition to her experience in physician practice management, home health, and DME operations, Krista is a recognized expert in revenue cycle management, platform and data conversion, and new system implementations.

Elizabeth Wright, CPA, FACHE, VP Finance
Elizabeth is from West Columbia, South Carolina, where she received her B.S. in business administration and Masters in accountancy. She has 12 years of experience in public accounting, where she specialized in serving healthcare organizations. She is licensed in Tennessee as a Certified Public Accountant and is board certified in healthcare management as a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“In addition to negotiating vendor agreements and overseeing day-to-day financial transactions, I also manage HealthStar’s greatest resource: our hard-working team. I have worked in compliance my entire career, and I strive to always do what’s right. For me, that’s what EVV is all about.”

Faye Summitt, Mobile Services Manager
Faye was born and raised in a rural Tennessee farm town. She holds a B.S. in organizational management and boasts 26 years of healthcare experience in administrative and clinical settings. Prior to joining HealthStar in February 2016, Faye managed a call center that handled more than 10,000 calls per month.
“I work on all aspects of the device program and also serve as back-up for our Provider Services team. I love my work because I believe it is important that patients are able to remain at home while they receive the excellent care they need to sustain their health and well-being.”

Melissa Troutman, Provider Services Manager
Melissa is a Knoxville native with 23 years of experience in patient care and healthcare administration. She holds Certified Nursing Assistant, CPR and Community First Aid and Safety certifications. Prior to joining HealthStar, Melissa managed a medical accounts receivable team where she became known for her outstanding problem-solving skills and commitment to client service.
“I have a close relationship with providers, and they can always email or call me directly, if needed. I am very passionate about what Healthstar offers not only to the MCOs and providers, but the members and their families. My father receives care in the home and I am reassured knowing his health and safety is protected by an EVV system.”

Alex Hurst, Provider Services Associate
Alex hails from Knoxville, Tennessee, where she grew up in a law enforcement family. Prior to joining HealthStar, she worked in a retail setting, where she was responsible for all aspects of customer service.
“My role at HealthStar is providing professional and helpful assistance to homecare providers. I am very enthusiastic about our work and grateful to be part of this team. HealthStar’s goal is not only to save money by reducing fraud, it is also to provide a sense of comfort for families and their loved ones.”
